Our Story

Sight 2020 Direct is a UK based charity that was set up in 2001 with the aim of providing good eye care services for people who would not otherwise have access to them. Since 2008 we have been working in Malawi. We have been involved in the training and mentoring of young Malawian eye surgeons and health personnel.

We have two main aims:

1) To work with local partners to prevent treatable forms of blindness. We support the delivery of cataract and glaucoma services for people in Malawi who cannot afford to pay for them.

2) To provide activities and education to people with irreversible sight loss, to improve their quality of life and promote social inclusion. We are involved in the setting up and running of activities such as blind football, goal ball, music, art and crafts.

We are registered in Malawi as an NGO called Onani Eye Foundation.

Andrew Feyi-Waboso was awarded a UK Points of Light award by the Prime Minister Theresa May in 2019 for his work with Sight 2020 Direct.
